Start-up Entrepreneur Programme (STEP)
The Start-up Entrepreneur Programme (STEP) is an initiative introduced by the Irish Government in 2012. It is designed for innovative entrepreneurs who wish to establish their business and reside in Ireland on a full-time basis.
To qualify for STEP, applicants must be of good character, have no criminal convictions in any jurisdiction, have the required €50,000 funding available, and have an innovative business proposal. Applications for STEP can be made electronically at any time, and proposals are considered on a quarterly basis by an evaluation committee.
Successful applicants will be granted permission to reside in the State, under the condition that they establish the business as outlined in their application, work on this business full-time, do not become a financial burden on the Irish State, and do not get convicted of a criminal offence in any jurisdiction.
